Halloween Haunted Hanger & Trick or Treat!
American Airpower Museum 1230 New Highway, Farrmingdale, NY, United StatesJoin us Saturday October 25th for the American Airpower Museum's Annual Haunted Hangar and Trick or Treat for all ages! Fright Takes Flight with witches, goblins, ghosts, and more at our Annual Haunted Hangar and Trick or Treat! Come enjoy a family friendly Halloween event where kids can safely trick or treat through our historic hangar, as our legendary warbirds become the back drop for Halloween fun! The Haunted Hangar Halloween Party is Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with the last entry for the public will be at 4:00p.m. at the American Airpower Museum, in Hangar 3, at 1230 New Highway, Farmingdale, NY. In keeping with the holiday spirit, Museum volunteers will handing out trick or treats in costume as kids go from display to display in the safety of Hangar 3. Little ghosts and goblins along with parents alike will mingle with all the ghosts, ghouls, skeletons, vampires, witches and zombies that have taken residence for the day inside the Museum’s historic and spooky hangar. Completely decorated and creatively transformed into a fun haunted house atmosphere complete with dry ice fog, spider webs, flying bats and new frights at every turn! The Haunted Hangar Halloween Party includes a tour of our exclusive Haunted Bomber, you can enter our Maze of Terror at your own risk! Don’t forget to bring your cameras or smartphones along, to take photos of your children in front of all they haunted airplanes that could roar to life with ghosts and goblins at any moment! Parents and kids can also climb aboard our "Travesty Tram" for a fun ride around the museum flight line weather permitting! Parents - you don't want to miss an opportunity for kids 12 and under to take part in our annual Costume Contest! A special prize for the winner! Adults are encouraged to get into the costume spirit and add to the festive atmosphere! Enjoy the sights, sounds, and music of Halloween in a safe family friendly atmosphere that will take place in our hangar protected from the elements so an event held rain or shine! Admission to the American Airpower Museum’s Haunted Hangar Halloween Party is $18 for adults, $15 for seniors & veterans, $12 for children ages 4 to 12. AAM members, and active duty military/active guard & reserves, free with valid Military ID/CAC. In addition, library passes are not valid for this or any scheduled special events at the museum. C-47 D-Day Living History Flight Experience
American Airpower Museum 1230 New Highway, Farrmingdale, NY, United StatesTake a flight back in time with the American Airpower Museum WWII C-47 D-Day Living History Flight Experience! This immersive living history program lasts approximately 2.0 hours including your 20–25-minute flight in the Legendary WWII Douglas C-47 “Skytrain”. The American Airpower Museum C-47 D-Day Flight Experience is a one-of-a-kind immersive living history educational program. Living Historians guide participants from arrival as they gear up!, then receive their 101st Airborne D-Day operations briefing prior to boarding the museum’s the C-47 “Skytrain” as if it were June 5th, 1944. Flying over Long Island’s south shore beaches provides the backdrop for a simulated jump and a sense of what U.S. 101st and 82nd Airborne Division Paratroopers experienced on their June 5th, 1944 momentous 1,200-plane airborne assault behind the lines of the Normandy Beach landings at Utah, Point Du Hoc, and Omaha Beach. During this one-of-a-kind experience you will be geared up with authentic reproduction M-42 / M-43 field jackets like the ones worn by paratroopers during D-Day and Operations Market Garden, Replica “Steel Pot” G.I helmets, and your simulated jump harness. Experience the actual sights and sounds of the C-47’s engines fire up and you take to the skies. See, hear, and feel what it was like for the crew operating their C-47 and paratroopers getting ready to make history on the night of June 5th, and day of June 6th,1944. As you ready to "cross the beaches" you will “stand up”, and “hook up”, simulating what it was like to be ready on the static line for the green light. Don't worry though there's no real jumping on this flight experience it's all a living history re-enactment of course! You then return to the museum for the conclusion of the living history presentation and will be able to take photos with your living historians, aircrew, and the C-47! American Airpower Museum 1230 New Highway, Farrmingdale, NY, United StatesC-47 Flight Experience Ride at the American Airpower Museum Take a short scenic flight with us this Thanksgiving Weekend in the American Airpower Museum’s WWII Douglas C-47 “Skytrain” Troop Transport still authentically configured inside and out as they were in 1944 when used to drop U.S Army, and British Airborne Paratroopers on their historic D-Day mission in June of 1944, as well that of Operation Market Garden in September of 1944. Enjoy a scenic flight around Long Island that is approximately 15-20 minutes. The “short” program includes arrival, briefing, and a scenic flight around the local area. Featured25th Annual Dropping of the Roses Honoring the 84th Anniversary of December 7th, 1941 Attack on Pearl Harbor
The annual 'Dropping of the Roses' Pearl Harbor Memorial Ceremony will take place on Sunday at the American Airpower Museum. The AAM will host the event, as the museum has every year since it opened in 2000, conducted by the Long Island Air & Space Forces Association. Dec. 7 is the 84th anniversary of the Japanese attack on the U.S. Navy Fleet based at Pearl Harbor. The 'Dropping of the Roses' tradition began in 1970 by Joseph Hydrusko. The warbird carrying the roses will leave the AAM at 12:30 p.m. There will be a solemn ceremony remembering those who served and those who perished at Pearl Harbor, including a special tribute to their guests of honor, five WWII centenarian veterans. 84 American Beauty Roses, including one extra white rose for 9-11, will be dropped at 12:55 p.m., the exact time in New York that Pearl Harbor was attacked. Their Chaplain will conduct a Blessing of the Roses, and the roses will be released from the warbird at the Statue of Liberty. There will be free admission for the public from 10:30 a.m. until 12 p.m. After noon, it will be $18 for adults, $15 for seniors and veterans, $12 for children 3 to 12, and children under 3 are free. Museum members and active military/guard/reserves are free with ID. The event will take place at Hangar 3, 1230 New Highway, in Farmingdale.
